The Iowa Humane Alliance Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic
Establishing Iowa's very first high-volume, high-quality, affordable spay/neuter facility is a truly massive undertaking... with equally substantial benefits for the communities we'll serve. If you would like to donate to our clinic capital campaign, you can download our pledge form, or make a donation online. More information about the clinic, our mentors, and the model we are following is available below. The clinic will employ a full-time veterinarian, veterinarian technicians and assistants, a transport coordinator, a clinic manager, and a director. It will sterilize between 8,000 and 9,000 cats, dogs, and rabbits a year. The clinic building will also be the corporate headquarters for Iowa Humane Alliance, and the space will accommodate our other programs. We chose the Humane Alliance model as the delivery method for spay/neuter services because a stationary clinic is best suited for the area’s high-volume need. It eliminates costly travel time for surgical staff and provides for the requisite period of post-surgical observation and care. The model provides for a sustainable nonprofit business, and once the clinic is opened, fund-raising needs will be minimal. The Humane Alliance has mentored the opening of 100 clinics, and many more are preparing to open. The NSNRT mentorship program offers many benefits, simplifying the opening and operation of this clinic, including assistance with budgeting, clinic design, clinic software, ordering of equipment and consumables, employee policies and handbooks, medical protocol and training of all of our clinic staff. This model offers outstanding mentoring, ranging from established medical protocols and clinic design to advice about ordering equipment, help with employee policies, and staff training. Our clinic will be the first Humane Alliance model to open in Iowa. |
