Spay Iowa, a program of Iowa Humane Alliance, is a network and referral service for affordable spay/neuter services in Iowa. Our program is modeled after and developed with the mentoring support of SPAY/USA, a program of North Shore Animal League America.
Spay Iowa's mission is to create a network of volunteers, humane organizations, and veterinarians working together to popularize and facilitate affordable spay/neuter services throughout the state and to educate the public on the value of spay/neuter in order to end companion animal overpopulation.
Spay Iowa provides a statewide toll free number (888-9-SPAY-IA) that people can call when seeking information on accessing spay/neuter services. When clients call our hot-line number, the phone counselor can access a database of programs in Iowa, and refer the caller to a program that will be meet their needs.
Spay Iowa also works with individual vets to contract for low cost spay/neuter options for targeted groups, usually low income clients or those clients caring for multiple stray cats. We a have a subsidy fund and, when funding is available, we can assist clients by paying a part of their veterinary bill for sterilization services. Donors who would like to help us provide low cost spay/neuter programs for those in need can designate the their donation to the Spay Iowa Subsidy Fund when they donate online or by check.
The Spay Iowa program has it's own website. Please visit www.spay-iowa.org for more infomation.
